Winter Wonder Castle 2025
the story of Perceval and the Grail. Experience a magical Christmas atmosphere as you embark on this adventurous journey, and end your visit with a cosy drink in the winter bar.
Philip of Alsace – Count of Flanders – thought big. In 1180, he rebuilt the Gravensteen and transformed it into his proudest castle. Around the same time, he commissioned Chrétien de Troyes, France’s most celebrated poet, to compose a chivalric romance of unparalleled beauty: The Story of the Grail.
In this tale, we meet Perceval, a simple boy from the forests of Wales who dreams of becoming a knight. His journey leads him to King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and to a life filled with challenges. He learns to fight and to love. But along the way, he discovers that chivalry is about much more than violence and glory. His adventures become, above all, a restless quest – full of doubt, failure and hope – toward self-discovery and goodness.
Never before has such a mysterious story been told within the walls of the Gravensteen. Centuries later, Perceval still inspires us. Are we not all searching for the best version of ourselves – and for a better world?
Step inside and journey into Perceval’s realm – magical, adventurous, and full of wonder.
