St Bavo’s Abbey is open from April until the end of October on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2.00 to 6.00 p.m. On Sunday afternoons, the Abbey neighbours are responsible for the reception.

Individual visit

Our visitor guide (booklet) will take you on a journey behind the abbey walls, exploring the rich history of this unique, enchanting place. Available free of charge at the abbey.

In a group

Immerse yourself in the story of the abbey during a guided tour.

Group visits are possible all year round, at 10 a.m. earliest.

Admission is free, so you only pay for the guide.

With your class

Are you looking for an educational cultural activity with your school or class group? You can visit the abbey with your class during opening hours between April and November. If you want more background information, book a guided tour. This immerses you in both medieval abbey life and the stormy 16th century. That was when Emperor Charles V decided to visit the abbey.
