Practical information
Both city palaces are located in Veldstraat in Ghent’s city centre.
They are open every Friday and Saturday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
During the Ghent Festivities (Gentse Feesten), the city palaces are open from Monday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Individual visits
You can simply wander in every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The houses exude the atmosphere of the ‘Ancien Régime’. In Hotel D’Hane Steenhuyse, you are greeted by the sounds of dance music and horses and carriages. You soon lose all track of time and imagine yourself visiting the count and countess.
In the Arnold Vander Haeghen House, you will find one of the best-preserved authentic Chinese salons, a dining room in belle époque style and a reconstruction of the study of Nobel Prize winner, Maurice Maeterlinck.
When - Every Friday and Saturday between 2.00 and 6.00 p.m and on Sunday from 10 a.m. till 6p.m. (after 5.30 p.m., only the ground floor can be visited)

Step-in guided tour
Every Sunday at 11 a.m. you can turn up individually for a guided tour. A guide talks at length about the history of the houses and their occupants. After that, boudoirs, cabinets, and enfilades hold no more secrets.
The guided tour starts in Hotel d’Hane Steenhuyse and ends on the other side of the road in the Arnold Vander Haeghen House.
Languages - depending on the composition of the group, the guided tour will be given in dutch, french or english.
Price - €7 per person – free for children and youngsters under 19
Availability - Every Sunday at 11 a.m.

Take on the role of the occupants of those days, together with your students. Our guides tailor the rich history of these city palaces to your class group and pepper their stories with nice anecdotes and trivia.
