Deaf and hearing impaired
The hearing impaired can experience Wouter Deprez’s comedy tour thanks to a visio guide. This multimedia guide is available in Flemish or international sign language and in written text. It is included in the ticket price. We recommend that you book your visio guide prior to your visit through our ticket shop.
Tourism for Autism
Tourism for Autism has developed a visual step-by-step plan to prepare your visit to the Castle of the Counts. This free plan can also be downloaded online from this link.
Wheelchair users
Unfortunately, the Castle of the Counts is not wheelchair accessible. Our castle has over 480 steps, with four narrow spiral staircases connecting the floors with each other. The rooms and cellars that you can visit are all in the depths or towers of the castle, but not on the ground floor.
Assistance Dogs
The Castle of the Counts welcomes assistance dogs.
European Disability Card
Historische Huizen Gent is a partner of the European Disability Card project. This card entitles you to free admission for the person accompanying you.
Coach
Coaches can drop off or pick up tourists in Ghent at Gent-Dampoort station and at the Bijloke site (Godshuizenlaan).
People with reduced mobility (the elderly, wheelchair users, small children) may also be dropped at the bus stop at De Poel. You may not park there, however. This stop is in the Coupure sector, which you can reach from the ring road (R40) and Louis Pasteurlaan, Bernard Spaelaan or Nieuwewandeling.
